Federal Medical and Laboratory Facility (Maryland)
With an annual operating budget of more than $50 billion, the federal complex of clinical and health research facilities employs more than 3,000 clinicians and some 35,000 researchers — making it the world standard for care and innovation.
TEN has been engaged in a 25-month energy upgrade project designed to meet federal energy conservation and decarbonization mandates. Federal entities will invest $35.2 million and return an estimated $2.6 million in annual savings over a 17-year total project duration. TEN completed an investment grade audit (IGA) that identified and quantified ECMs.
TEN’s project team to deliver:
- Complete LED Lighting upgrades in four buildings.
- 46,000 total fixture upgrades
- Upgrade aging and failed steam condensate return units.
- Install 33 condensate return units with dual pumps for redundancy.
- Replace 21 chilled water or hot water flow meters.
- Install solar PV rooftop canopies on three parking garages.
- Canopy sizes range from 500-750kW DC each (3.25 MWh DC)
- Install fixed-tilt louvered canopy design to improve production factor and reduce panel soiling.
