LED Street Lighting Upgrade and Smart Cities Project
Encompassing 21.31 square miles of land and 48.13 square miles of water, Portland is the largest city in Maine, with a population of more than 67,000 and an annual operating budget of $333.9 million.
The City of Portland selected TEN via a highly competitive procurement process to retrofit more than 6,000 streetlights and make Smart City upgrades that will reduce outages, improve lighting quality), and deliver new services for residents.
TEN’s project team delivered:
- Convert 6,000 cobra head streetlights and pedestrian lights to highly efficient LED fixtures.
- Upgrades to 700 historically significant decorative fixtures.
- Designed and installed a state-of-the-art lighting control system.
- Implemented high-impact Smart Cities technologies (safety, quality of life, new services for residents).
- Installed new exterior-colored lights at City Hall/Clock Tower and the Deering Oaks Fountain.
- Installed intelligent traffic signals.
- Managed engineering, procurement, construction, rebate application, and administration.
