TEN's Experience
TEN brings deep experience working in secure, occupied environments, including correctional facilities and hospitals where security, safety, and accelerated installation are paramount. This ESPC project with the Pennsylvania Department of General Services occurred at the State Correctional Institution, Houtzdale, a 1,500-bed, 35-building correctional facility that opened in January 1996.
TEN delivered upgrades to the hot water boiler, plumbing, and interior and exterior lighting, addressing the critical needs of the aging infrastructure and central utility plant. TEN completed the project on time and on budget, successfully navigating high-security occupied buildings and minimizing disruptions.
TEN's project team delivered:
- Converted compressed natural gas for the 65-acre site
- New steam and hot water boilers, proving N+1 redundancy
- New chillers and cooling towers
- New pumping systems and plant controls
- New hot water and chilled water distribution lines
- Upgraded I-CON water conservation technologies
- Upgraded building automation system
- Upgraded interior and exterior LED lighting and controls
- Integrated ongoing maintenance into the existing building automation system
